That is a bug in the level. Every item has a distance at which it culls out; no longer renders. That particular item had an incorrect value for being culled assigned to it. I am surprised this hasn't been noticed earlier! Nice find.

We will look into it what is going on. I have not looked at what the server can force off (or on) for a player's HUD in quite a while. I do know nearly everything can be turned off on your individual client via the HUD settings.
