Why would you Deny OG's of the classics?

I played this game back when Army America was fighting for the rights to AA. I play this when it was the Top Emulator for training Soldiers in Team coordination and strategy... I played lvls like Weapons cache.... These game creators want to limit exposure to the old... progression to the future, or some [TOS Violation] like that; Im telling you, Depriving your fan base of the classics is childish not revolutionary, or progressive; Its Regressive in the fact that Some Levels work. It was a classic that would never die.... If your servers cant handle the payload that weapons cache would bring I can understand.... But in all seriousness, its something I would fight to see again... Tell what you want... and i'll make it happen.. because somethings are just worth fighting for.... and I believe this is one of them.

Why would you complain 9 years after the shutdown?

Older maps are not gone. They are only not Official Maps anymore. You Can however find them, download them and host them yourself unless you pick a server that uses User Made Maps. To find these map go to your Steam's Workshop, on the 2nd page you will see AA Proving Grounds.

I am also a retro AA player like yourself and there are Many others like you an I. However incase you have not noticed the Game Devs has brought out a couple older maps that you should be familiar with. I personally would love to see some more old maps just like 90% of us.

However this Game is owned by the U.S. Army. This being said the game Devs are told what they can and can't do. The old maps were not really a main focus with a New game for the Army. However don't assume that its the game Devs that are holding back because They want to limit what your exposed too. The old maps are there for anyone to download and host. There is also a strong Mission Editor to this game and your free to learn and create then upload and share your ideal map or maps and the missions to them.

Everyone has a boss. Even the Devs. I am sure you do as well or at some point has been the situation. I am also sure that you know and understand what taking orders are, and what would happen if you do not listen to your employer. I am with you on seeing old maps come to life once again, however some older maps were just released. Also a training map was just recreated not long ago. "Siege map updated and touched up with new art and assets. The new map is entitled “Hydra” and is an Extract map." I also would love to see some new guns and cool skins. But we did just get some cool new skins that the players created and submitted in the comp. Also I am positive there are some new guns coming out soon that was posted here https://forum.americasarmy.com/discussion/7176/plan-for-pc-ps4/p1 There is no issues with the servers so there is no issue there.

Although this might not be the answer you were looking for. What you want is there. It is just not and official map. Feel free to host it, no one is stopping you sept you. If I see someone hosting some old AA maps, even if I need to download them fast, you can count me in. So if you ask me looks like the Devs are doing a great job and bringing out some nice new content out. Even planned projects for the year.

As a forum warrior myself, I can see that half of this is rambling hysteria. The only point I'll agree with is the throwback maps should have been brought back much sooner. The common retort is that these maps exist as UMMs, but everyone knows UMMs are highly unpopular outside of a couple of servers.

Agreed. I haven't touched the game in a while, but I remember the height of UMMs when people were putting new maps almost weekly it seemed. It was really only Beer_Me that was popular (as least in NA). Pretty much any one else who tried a UMM server failed. UMMs took longer to load, were annoying to download, among other things.

I played Weapons_Cache yesterday. They live on in the form of User Made Maps and they are very well done. You have no idea what you're talking about.

I guess people forget that UMM's were in AA2 as well and a few were wildly popular...

    1) Rummage
    2) Vertigo
    3) PanicTown
    4) OperationShutdown
    5) SF_Bridge_Xtreme_Final
    6) SF_Hotel (both normal and Coop)
    7) SF_Petrol

... and the list goes on and on an on ...

They all resided on AAMissionDepot.com, which was run by Pragmatic and sponsored by the US Army.

    OIC!
P.S. The ={101st}= have a nice selection of UMM's... if you are interested. A shame the IRISH server stopped, they were great as well.

Not only did I never play any of those maps, I don't think I've ever even heard of them.

UMMs are not popular. Whether it's the sheer volume of them, how they're incorporated/downloaded, the load time, or something else, UMMs are highly unpopular.

But props to the server or two that sustains a community. I'd bet though, that's more based on relationships versus the maps being played. I'd play anything w/ my buddies.

You are correct... my bad. For some reason, I thought it was a UMM first. Looking at my old installtions, I see it in the default map list.

You have a point. I remember playing on Beer Me a lot when I was playing AAPG as my main game. There were certainly a few really good maps, but there were also a decent amount of maps that I didn't really enjoy at all. I would play them since I enjoyed playing with the regulars on the server.

I do think people would have given them more of a chance if the process of playing them was more polished. The ability to play UMMs without having to download ALL of the UMMs on a server and being able to load them quickly and without crashing (this was improved as time went on, but still took way longer than standard maps). These were two huge issues that held back UMMs. Even to add, the process of updating maps was a disaster for map makers and server owners. I can't remember how many times Roach scolded me for crashing his server because I made an update to one of my maps. It was really messy.
