VIP Player Selection, please stop E-1's from getting randomly picked.

For the love of all things HOLY. Please change the Randomizer to exclude E-1's. It's extremely frustrating to be doing well, to only lose the set because of consistently picking brand new players who have no Mic and can barely walk through doorways... let alone shoot.

That only happens if there's a player with an "@" symbol in his name playing on in the server... :p

Seriously though, I thought rank WAS part of the algorithm. Hmm. Hopefully someone in the know can comment here. Not sure but that 'might' be a bug.

I can see how this can effect the play in game but this is a great opportunity to let a new player (or a player with just a new account] to see how working as a part of a team can benefit. The best thing you can do is try to get the new player to come follow you or you follow them. Ah yes the battle buddy system that so many has forgotten. Yes there is a likely chance that you will fail but every match is always a 50/50 anyway. If your not willing to try to help the new player and teach them then maybe avoid VIP mission types. Since you can not control who gets the VIP and the fact is even if you are trying to help the new player (or old) and they choose not to listen then at least you can say I have done all that I can do. I personally see no problem with a new account being selected. There is also the training missions that you can suggest to a new player if you have noticed that they don't seem to know what they are doing.

i think the current way the VIP is being selected is quite stupid.
players that want to be VIP should get it, the current system does not work i got my VIP selection on Often and i hardly get it. most of the times i even ask the players who got it and ask what did they choose and they say normal (sometimes they get it twice and i dont even get it once).
i think if you want to mix the VIP selection process dont use the current system.
change it to an option of YES or NO this way only people who actually want to be VIP will get it.

And make 'NO' the default because most probably don't even know there is a setting for that.

It should go off how good looking you are that way I would always get the VIP and some one like -SD-Muzza455 would never get it =) =)

It should be the way it was in the old version. Let someone select to be the VIP. If no one chooses THEN randomly assign the role. Although there are some "good" players who insist on rushing and die quicker than the newbies. Wishlist: Maybe a compromise would be to add a vote to bar someone from being the VIP in a match if they prove to be complete inept in being that critical role.

For me the settings work as advertised. I have chosen "Often" and was the VIP 2 or 3 times in a match pretty consistently. I was never the VIP in the month and a half after I switched it to "Rarely". I just switched it back to "Often" and boom 3 time in a match.

We've seen how votes worked out in the past.

I think it would be neat if you had to do a training course to become VIP. Similar to training in AA2. It would encourage communication of the new users asking the server how do I become VIP, building a greater community as well. I kow this got me into AA2 originally.

They will have to change the whole weapon selection system.
    Aint gonna happen

One thing to consider is that the TEAM is supposed to escort the VIP and protect him. If your VIP is new, then shouldn't the team step up its efforts? This is pretty realistic to the entire concept of a VIP....they won't have combat skills. The only skill the VIP needs to have is how to stay out of trouble.

Most of the time the tough part is to make the new guy understand the situation then you have to make him cooperate. I think most E-1s don't even know what is a VIP and even if they do, they don't realise they are the VIP... Then they have literally 5 teammates tell 5 different things about what they are supposed to do.
Add the language barrier in the EU and you have the recipe for a frustrating mess. The teammates get mad because the VIP has no clue what to do and the E-1 gets mad because everyone is yelling at him - especially after loosing.
There are also some maps, were the team can't do anything for the VIP if he decides to do something "creative" (e.g: VIP rushes dark room straight away).
Theory and reality are not that different. In theory.

On VIP options.. If I pick rarely or normal, will someone who picked the 'often' choice, "always" be a VIP before me? or is there still some randomness to it?

How it (currently) works by my reading:

It's a lottery and the number of tickets you buy is selected by the option you choose. Rare = 0 tickets, Normal = 3 tickets, Often = 5 tickets. If you were VIP last round you don't get any tickets. Select a ticket at random and that's VIP.

What if everybody chooses "Rarely" so that there aren't any tickets?
Then the people that weren't VIP last round all get a ticket anyway (including "rare" players).

But there's still this weird edge case where...
Alright, fine, the guy that was VIP last time can join the lottery too if nobody has a ticket by now.

    So in a typical 12v12... (2 "rarely", 8 "normal", 2 "often"):
If a "normal" was VIP last round, there will be (7x3 + 2x5) 31 tickets sold.
    "Rarely" won't be a VIP.
"Normal" guys each have about a 10% chance of getting picked.
"Often" guys each have about a 16% chance of getting picked.

Having been VIP on a low-rank alt account, this is SOOOO true in the USA as well. High-rank players shout out exactly what they want you to do and whine endlessly if you deviate the slightest bit from their wishes.

Oh, nobody's covering main choke at all and we've been flanked there the last 3 rounds? Guess I'll carefully watch that.

"NO OMG WHAT ARE YOU DOING GO HIDE IN RED HALL WHAT A NOOB"

It can be an unrelenting barrage of insults and complaints. It's amazing.

I like that Idea, I would never get picked yay!! lol

I agree with whats being said about the team work..
We see the team work coming back a little more, thanks to bringing the VIP back.. It is just like Keebler said, the team should be stepping up and helping the new guys, you can always say, " Don't move VIP we are heading your way!!" Sometimes it is very frustrating being the person who is new, and becomes the one who is responsible for our teams fate haha!!

(Unless your me, then you have lived with that fear for 13 years now!! lol)

I have to admit at first I thought the idea of random VIP was a bad idea but after playing like this now
the dev's was right to do it this way.
My change of mind came when I realised how many good players like to be Rambo, they get the VIP slot and rush the dark room thinking they are that good they can kill 12 enemy's all at once with 30 bullets and end up dead within 20 seconds.
So having a new player be VIP is good because they want to do well and most of the time listen to what their team is asking them.
