Finding someones Steam Name in game
Out of the many many issues I have with this game, why can't I find someones steam name? If you're going to use steam, at least give the capability to correlate a user with a steam profile. I understand you can alt-Tab and do view players - but that is completely useless.
It also begs the question. Why can't I see the score before I enter a server, among other basic steam capabilities.

You can do that in-game with the "In-Game Overlay" without tabbing out of the game.
Steam/View/Settings/In-Game/"Overlay shortcut keys"
If you like to add someone they can give you their name in the chat? Basically the same as if everyone would see the Steamname of everyone, just a little more private ^.^
You can? Either in Steam/View/Servers -> rightclicking the server "View server info" (like every other steam game), rightclicking the name of your friend "View server info" (like every other steam game) or in-game server browser rightclicking the server "Server Info".

You're repeating what I wrote. You still don't know which solider name belongs to what steam account. Hence the title of this post. In AA2 and AA3 you would just hover over the name and get the steam name. It was simple.
Incorrect. Still can't see what round or the score. Is it 12-3 or 4-12? What side is my friend on?..How many round is there? etc.etc..
I'll also add, in aa3 it was easy to find what servers your friends were playing on. They made it simple. In AAPG you have to go to each friend one by one and decide if you want to play on that server. Its somewhat of a pain, Again, not using the rich set of functions available from steam. Its clunky design and somewhat non-intuitive.

Back when this game was in closed beta, I remember suggesting to have a way to view AA profile, view steam profile, and add friends through the scoreboard. I remember a Dev saying they'll look into it. Never happened.
I know that CS has this functionality.
1. open console
2. type "pb_plist"
3. look at player guid - usually you only have to remember last 4 digits
4. shift-tab
5. select view current players, if he is still on the server
6. scan to see if the steam name is there player name. if not, continue
7. click on profile for first player
8. observe the address bar and see if the last 4 digits are that player. if your lucky it is. if your not, instead of a GUID number, it gives you there steam name - if that happens, close down the profile and then reopen it but watch the address bar and try and catch the numbers. hopefully that was the one you are looking for
9. if the 1st one wasn't the one, then continue. hopefully you will get thru 23-25 names within the round while you are dead (or during the match).
Here is AA3.
1. open the team select menu
2. hover over the player name
3. observe steam name
Quite amazing that such a simple feature wasn't carried over from AA3 considering we're talking about the same gaming engine (besides updates).
Example: Another player wanted to add me to his friends list but could not find my account info via any of the, (what would appear to be) logical means on Steam. He needed to find my unique Steam account name which is not my player name. It is in fact the first part of my email address. This unique Steam name also appears as my player name on the main screen of my AAPG game. You know, the page with the sniper in the window.
I’ve mentioned this several times before. The last was almost a year ago in a thread entitled “We need a thread to collect general feedback on opt-in !” You’ll find my post about halfway down on Page 3.
