45down 8up fiber w/ 250gb cap OR
75down 5up cable w/ 300gb cap.

    WHERE DO YOU PEOPLE LIVE THAT THERE IS CAP ON INTERNET USAGE?!?!?!?!

    That is absolutely insane.

    Also T1 hasn't been relevant since early 2000's
    Bhop is a string of jumps with no interruptions.

    Capping internet recently got allowed in Germany and they try selling it as something new.. "Get prioritized in data traffic for extra cash or get a worse connection than you had before for the same prize. AWESOME!"

    Chicago. Top is AT&T, bottom is Comcast. I'm pretty sure that both of these companies cap data in most of their markets. Just informed that Comcast is 10 up, misinformed by salesperson.

    sheesh...in NJ there are 3 companies Comcast, Cablevision and Verizon. A cap won't roll around these parts.

    The fibre will most likely give you better ping than the cable.
    Pie charts + Graphs= Very Bad.

    Comcast caps internet in the U.S.A. I've heard of others too, and I know TWC tried to cap people as well in 2014.

    It usually does if you have real fiber, not just fiber backboned with copper to your home like most people have when they say fiber.

    From the FCC's 2015 Broadband report:

    Expect fiber and cable to out-perform DSL for latency, but the cable and fiber latency numbers look pretty similar. There's maybe a slight edge to fiber, but it's only looking at two companies.

    Realistically, network congestion and routing is going to play a bigger role in latency.

    Packet loss may be a bit higher for fiber among the companies studied.


    While I don't like that Comcast is experimenting with data caps and think they're overpriced (...along with the rest of the US market), I have had good+reliable service.

    In the end, your experience with either product is probably going to be very similar. Unless you know something about AT&T vs Comcast service/congestion in your area, I'd just go with whatever's cheaper.

    I'm in Chicago, and I wouldn't touch AT&T with a 10 foot pole. They suck. I had them for one month and they are horrible. I have Comcast, been with them for Xfinity . ;)

    And no cap here. I probably do around 15 gigs a day roughly and NO issues.

    Thanks all. Going w/ Comcast. Def stoked that I got some sweet BC graphs on my thread. Moving to Chi town in a week and a half. Can't wait to get back on!

    We have a 250GB data cap with Comcast (Fiber) but on average we been using 400ish but haven't gotten charged. But I've heard that Comcast is now starting to charge $10 per 50GB over.
