It might have been late (or rather very very early) when I said that
There's just something in my brain somewhere that remembers something along the lines of.. grenades couldn’t be thrown as far as one would like due to some sort of restriction.. Not sure if that’s this game, that game or the other.. I have no clue..
but something is deep in there, just rather fragmented and beyond proper recall, might be an age thing
If my trollery drives you crazy, you'd better put on your seatbelt.
I'd like to see more realism across the game. Reviving from a minor wound is quire acceptable but reviving the out and out dead is pathetic. The system classifies hits by the degree of seriousness to evaluate whether to put the player down. It could use the same scoring to decide whether a revive was possible or whether the damage was lethal. And the level of revival could also be tied to the degree of wounding and the time elapsed until revival. Both these factors are measured for different purposes. The game inhibits performance when the wounding level is high but being revived reduces this for being a walking zombie to being 25% healthy which in turn doesn't seem to inhibit very much in the way of vaulting fences etc. Why can't a wound that puts a man down inhibit after revival the use of that part of the body that was hit. A serious leg wound once revived would make the man hobble and not be able to run. Wounds to the arms would stop holding a rifle but allow a pistol. And a grenade that blew your head off would actually kill you on the spot. And that would apply to fallen comrades hit by any ordinance while bleeding quietly. Murdering the wounded would happen and inadvertent fratricide would happen too. Somehow pumping bullets in to a fallen opfer and then seeing him revived is very unrealistic.
The problem with AAPG is that it is a recruiting tool for the US Army and the horrors of real warfare might put off foolish young men and women who get to think that army life, and death, is like this game and that it's all actually fun. While the PR guys have an input on the game style, it will never be a realistic simulator even though all the mechanisms are there to make it so. I must be one of the few players who accepts that being put out of the round is part of the game and not that it is "unfair" to have to sit for a huge 4 minutes watching others play with the toys which you wanted.
I'd make it much harder to kill other players but I'd make the consequences of being killed much more onerous. I'd reward objective achievements much more highly than annihilation wins because the object of the operation in real life is to make the gains asked of the team not just kill a bunch of solders.
I'd scrap the fancy camouflage outfits which don't actually camouflage anything as we all see opfor and they see us in strange outstanding garish fatigues which can be seen for miles. The enemy should look like really well camouflaged soldiers and not superhero comic villains and if they were well camouflaged, they'd be more difficult to see and so more difficult to kill. All the camo options in this game are just fancy dress outfits for impressing your own team.
I'd like to see random weapon jams, especially from opfor weapons which might well be badly maintained. That'd teach you to pick up enemy weapons in preference to the weapon issued to you.
I'd reduce the speed at which you could run as the game progresses so that you might actually get tired, which you really would if you chose to run halfway around the map at full speed. I'd slow you down quicker if you chose to carry the weight of extra weapons and their ammo. Jumping up and down would become progressively more difficult as you expended energy. And the grenade throwing distance would shorten as your energy dissipated.
To put it more shortly, and perhaps I should have from the outset of this posting, fear of consequences should be made a major motivation, conditioning decisions made by players as they would be in life. I bet the guys who get recruited by this game, as it currently is, are truly surprised at the facts of life and death in real combat and complain to their squad leader that it "just ain't fair that I don't get the sniper rifle". More realism like you get in combat flight simulators where until you learn to fly the aircraft you don't even get it off the ground let alone shoot down anyone.
Im guessing you didnt play America's Army 1/2 judging by your theory's of why stuff is in the army game due to it being a recruiting tool. AA1/2 was marketed as a recruiting tool and throws all your theory's out the window. Also its been stated AAPG is not intended this way. I'm sure the purpose is the same. But AA1/2 was actually intended to be a recruitment tool AAPG is not.
I do agree revives are pathetic but they are here to stay. Nothing we can do.
maybe you should make a list of the maps you do like doba ,and instead of slagging the umms you dont like maybe talk to the map maker with some helpful advice, same to colts ,or maybe between you you could make a map thats your style
and remember most map makers are novices at this ,they are working on their own to try and do things for the community ,and haven't got a team of 10 guys putting in input
Helpful advice?? Lol..you mean like the advice I gave yesterday and got kicked for?.. you guys don't take advice you assume just becasue you built the map it's perfect!!..that's pathetic
Your response is to build my own map if I don't like it.. lol.. or just becasue I don't like it doesn't mean others don't. .. another example how you don't take advice.
Playing massive maps with 1 activated obj is one of the worst map designs I've ever seen... but hey you guys like it so that means it must be good lol
I did play the early AA versions and remember "Leavenworth" for fratricide. I'd bring it back and also have weapon bans for offences committed with particular weapons for a given number of hours play. Frag your own and be banned grenades for a given number of hours play and carry a mark next to your name so that when it came to dumping payers from over subscribed teams, you'd be a prime candidate for rejection. Offences with specialist weapons would lose you the right to use that weapon etc. You'd become a less welcome soldier to your fellow players who would tend to police you out of the more popular maps until you'd recovered your weapons ratings..
I visited a strange map where your only opponents were AI 'bots. It's not very good but you might learn your lesson if you had to play an hour or two there before you could get back on maps with real people! It would work as a sort of training ground and really rejected players would be sent there as a sort of "Leavenworth" with no awards from play but just racking up the hours to work off their sentence. Players would find it irksome enough to modify their behaviour to other players without being driven from the game completely.
I really don't think that the US Army funds this AAPG operation for no reason. It is so heavily PR loaded that denial of using it as a recruiting tools is not only ludicrous, it is disingenuous. All those videos of happy soldiers and positive things to say about the US Army while you are waiting for the map to load are there as the pill for which the AAPG game is the sugar coating. Unfortunately this tends to make them produce a "fun" game where soldiering is sanitised for the players. They have a good games engine which could handle the darker side of combat but I suppose it would put off teenagers from signing up. They even removed "Leavenworth" because fifteen year olds didn't like being punished!
lol im the 1st to admit my maps are not the greatest ,but i try, as to advice im open to any suggestions if they are positive , and not just comments like," its to foggy"
and with the like or not, enough people say they like them, for me to keep learning and trying

I got kicked off a map yesterday that Roach made.. I suggested this would be much better if it had 2 obj spots.. in the end people that have no idea got involved tempers flared and I got kicked .. lol..
He still thinks because "other people like it".. it must be good.. if you had more than one activated bomb location more people would like it and you might actually see more than just the regulars on the server.

But bro we are just know it alls who "think" we know what makes a good map. A map maker can have one bomb location and 7 minute rounds if he chooses!! The game is not fast paced! It depends on the map!
You have kicked me before for being better than you. I refuse to listen to you.
think thats wrong ive never kicked you but "whatever"
guess there's never going to be a agreement between "comp" guys and recreational players ,
but one thing i wonder about ,if this game is a recruiting tool for the American army ,and the attitude is rush , you got four minutes ,that's a lot of body bags
a lot of us are from aa2 ,where the idea was a little different
Seriously you guys should get together and try to make a map, It don't gotta be a work of art or anything, I'm pretty sure you can easily enough throw a few basic square shaped ready made buildings together with a move tool within a playspace.. serioulsy it's not rocket science, I mean I've even done it a few times so I'm 100% sure you guys can do it, if you at least try, but you gotta be willing and patient.
On to the abrupt part.. I'm sorry, it's very easy to say you know what works, and have all that kinda thing swimming around in your head.. or even know what to do to someones elses map to make instantly better.. So maybe you find yourself feeling like your feedback is ignored? how about instead of wasting that effort bothering to do that.. How about you 'show us' what will work on paper? Lets see your map idea, time allowance and gametype, honestly going by what you feedback you seem to be pretty clued up and what will and won't work and I'd say that’s 90% of the battle of a map design.
Or dare I say it..
Are you too chicken? spare me the 'game is too little' argument, Heard that one before and it don't wash.., you've been playing the game long enough so your both obviously passionate and that's a KEY trait in making a map. Get one on and just pop that cherry, its only scary the first time
If my trollery drives you crazy, you'd better put on your seatbelt.

Yah you did you kicked me a long long time ago playing 6v6 on breach I was 24-0. Was like 2 years ago. I have a good memory.
@[ENG]Uni-Sol I don't know where to start in the mission editor want to teach me?
It seems to me everyone enjoys the game differently, There is room for everyone to play and have fun. Our servers are for fun , you can run yours anyway you like.
As for people being kicked , Doba you were kicked for disrupting the game play in our server , you came in the server to further escalate the argument from the forums , I know it and you know it. While you seem to be able to do as you please here , You will not bring it to my server.
As for you Colts you were asked by me not to play in the server because so many people (Not Beer_Me)
voiced their concern over your gameplay to the point that they were not playing there as long as you were there. Its quite simple we play for fun and you play for competition , Why is it so hard for you guys to understand that not everyone wants to play the game your way.
There are 9 pages of people voicing their opinion here and you 2 seem to be the only ones who can't accept this.
I won't say anymore we will let the players decide what they want and you guys have fun your way.
I didn't know either.. I learned myself from watching tutorial videos but mainly by using the guides and tutorials a lot of the map makers have already made here
Doba you were kicked for disrupting the game play in our server , you came in the server to further escalate the argument from the forums.
Actually I didnt, did I mention anything about the round time? NO.. i know you did and continued to think thats what im here for.. I didnt say 1 thing about round times, even after you did.. I said, this map would benefit from 2 obj locations.. then you all had a melt down because taking advice is somthing you dont do.
Uni its not about making a map, to spend xxx amount of hrs on something you actually have to enjoy it.. I dont.. doesnt mean I cant give afvice to map makers, especially ones that need it, because HEY I might actually have some experiance in what works and what doesnt.
1 bomb obj in a map bigger than Border DOESNT WORK !!!!! Dont care how many of the regulars like it.. it creates horrid gameplay
Basically I was just saying, albeit not directly.. it may be better and less stressful for all involved to actually have a go yourself then you don't gotta worry about what someone else has done and if they are/arent prepared to listen to your feedback or ideas.
If you don't like it, for whatever reasons.. then I guess that’s fair enough. It's not like anyone can twist your arm up your back until you give in, but from how you come across, I'm sure with your ideas and your experience you'd do well in making a successful map, double tagged with someone like Colts holding your hand, chipping in on it.. Well that’s surely a recipe for awesome.. right?
If my trollery drives you crazy, you'd better put on your seatbelt.

Rant over.

No. Might of got added to assist some how but not officially no.
