Survey: New smaller download method - has it helped you?

It used to be that when there was a game update, we pretty much had to download a huge chunk of the game. Now, the downloads are more efficient and only the changes get downloaded. For me personally, it's been a big help.

Has this improved your game experience or helped you meet download quotas for your internet, or does it matter much to you?

(I wanted this to be a poll, but I can't see how to do it anymore!!!)

    Personally, no.
The download is mostly done after a few minutes, then theres the unpacking(write to disk), that usually take twice as much time as the download.
All in all its at best +-0

Doesn't matter to me since I have unlimited bandwidth and a fast connection. Although I'm sure if I was sitting there wanting to play at that very second, it'd be nice that it finishes more quickly.

Either way, smaller downloads are a big help for those who don't have unlimited bandwidth.

Yes. When we get two or three builds in Closed per week it KILLS my budget. I have a S-L-O-W 20GB limit for $50 and that's after I upgraded to a cheaper provider. It's still easy to go over the limit and pay extra.

I'm very interested to hear from others who don't have the greatest internet......

I think these changes are .......OUTSTANDING!!!! :D

I live 6 miles outside of the most populous corridor in all of Canada - along Lake Ontario. It's like I'm 400 miles north in the Arctic!!! I have two choices...cellular dongle 3G/4G or....dialup!

I'm moving to a place in the western mountains.....the SLOWEST internet is 5Mbits, 65GB for 45 bucks!

    :s I just don't get it

Too many frequent updates can be quite annoying like it was with CSGO couple of months ago. All in all, I prefer smaller downloads than big chunks, although they can be damaging sometimes like the one released yesterday corrupted some of the files and it won't let the game proceed after validation. Trying to find a fix but it seems will have to redownload all 4.9 gigs....

I can imagine these smaller updates being a god send to some people, in fact I'm sure we all lobbied at some point early in beta for them to make the downloads smaller and that we couldn’t understand why we were having to get 3-4+Gb patches for bug fixes. More proof [if anyone needed it] that we have been listened to.

I like it because it gets us in the game quicker, even those with mega speed unlimited broadband should be happy too, I know I am.. even if it only takes 5 minutes to download the whole game anyway.

I've heard lost of talk of rural places being held to these type of internet packages/prices. I have 250gb limit in sudbury ontario through a bundle phone, tv, internet, It's an extra 20$ to get 150down/10up with 250gb cap. Without the 20$ extra it just 20down/2up but unlimited bandwidth, for and extra 10$ it is 100down/10up 250gb limit. I think it's crazy that internet company's can do that to you considering what they offer in cities. There is no reason such a slow internet should come with such a small bandwidth limit

I can't believe it's "Back to the Future" day and some people still have slow internet. Doc Brown would be peeeowwwed.

The Internet should be FREE and fast for all.

Ya I agree. It's that way with cell phone prices here too.

Anyway...I started this topic because I wondered how much the download issues affected whether people play any particular game. I know I spent eight years away from America's Army due to the dialup here before I got 3G/4G.

I can't wait for cable internet in Alberta! Woohooooo!!!! I don't understand why it is that way, but I'll take it.

    :)

I do think it's important to remember that not everyone has the best access to the game. I don't know what the stats are like in the USA but in Canada it is typically the rural people that are more inclined to stand up for their country in military service....
