What type of map of would you like to see?

    I'd like to see the type of map that makes me want to play it all the time, new or old, matters little as long as they are fun to play.. then perhaps a few more maps that give me the same sense of wanting to play, so that I'm all excited and conflicted when joining a server.

    I really don't care as long as they be additional maps to play on :mrgreen:

    Even better for building new state of the art version of it. They can make another comic...Army now controls the area and all it's resources. :D

    Or heck...you can make an awesome looking version...pictured being a construction site now, all new structure going up.

    They have many options. ;)

    It's a good idea to have a story or background to associate with your map, then build one around that.. it helps give it character and a meaning whilst defining what kind of scene and assets to use in its playspace :sunglasses:

    What I was thinking... I asked what type of map people would like to see and gave examples of AA2 maps to explain map concept but instead thread went into 'What AA2 map would you like to see' ;(

    Just start by making official HD ports of many of the old maps... Pipeline, River Basin, Stronghold, etc. Who reads the comics anyway or cares that they destroyed a map. . . I always wanted a Die Hard type map based in a multi-floor skyscraper high above LA.. The atmosphere on those AA2 maps is tough to beat though...

    Rename the thread to...."What AA2 map would you want"....

    The UMM versions of these maps suggested above play terrible in this game so by the time they have adjusted them to work and annoyed all the retired veterans from AA2 by changing them they might aswell of just sent the time making a new map.


    I remember when we played sandstorm in a draft cup ages ago because "it was good in aa2". Worst map ive ever played.

    I know at least part of the issue in a straight port is that the scale of the map compared to the soldiers we're playing at is off. Character models are shorter in this game, so there are some walls that are taller than they should be. Fall damage is higher. The weapon options are different from AA2 which can affect map balance. The lack of fire teams with multiple spawn points affect defensive positioning.

    A remake of an AA2 map made with this game in mind could be successful.

    maclobster did a great remake of pipline , think hes had to pull it though , multiple spawns are no problem ive done it in a few of my maps (battle/convoy/snowbound),

    personally i like open maps where you can go as you please, and arnt just stuck to 3 routes ,

    There should be a decent mixture. Obviously more open maps are less appealing in the competitive aspect, but I think they're a good change up especially in pubs. It would be nice to play a bit of Mountain Pass or River Basin every now and then.

    I'm not following current AA comp scene, but back in the days even Bridge was played during some ladders, so I would say everything is possible.

    examples of objectives types and map design and weapon loadouts:
    - mout, pipe, hq raid, icamp, urban, sandstorm, border, dusk, csar, courtyard.
    -
    features:
    - doors to nerf zerg tactics and create teamwork-based breaching, actual cqb battles,
    - m203 to prevent/delay enemy rush spawn left right and center,
    - no sprinting while reloading,
    - no red blips on minimaps for enemy gunfire,
    - listen to grenade pins and enemy shouts,
    - 8v8 hosted option to reduce overcrowding lanes and general TDM zerging,
    - jump over prone players
    - can hear everything without muffling/drowning
    - can see (no blur) when being shot at
    - can see (no screen shake) when frag goes off in separate room/floor
    - can see (no white screen) when flash is not directly in line of sight
    - take longer to "lose health" from bleeding but take longer to self-bandage,
    - take longer to pull out weapon after doing an action
    - not possible to frag common areas from complete safety.

    I keep hitting the like button but it only likes once! :(

    I agree totally. I would love to see more maps that don't have routes and makes you work. This 3 route run around the corner stuff is fun for a while but has no longevity IMHO.
    I personally, don't want to know he will be coming around that corner...or that one.

    Pipeline redone like Hospital was redone for AAPG would be nice some what different layout. Like Hospital is somewhat different when compared aa2 hospital to aapg hospital.
