Framerate drops

^D3v!L+^D3v!L+ Posts: 16Player
Hi guys.

My game is "stuttering"

I have all new hardware (bought it because of the same issue on old..)

Overview of specs:
Intel i5-4690K cpu clocked to 4,2ghz
16 gb ram
Geforce GTX970

Running in maximum all the way, FPS locks at the by me given max of 144fps
but after awhile in game, i get these periodicaly stuttering, fps counter drops in a blink of an eye by 120fps and goes right back, every 3-5 seconds (same amount of time between the stutters).

Anyone have a idea to whats going on?

** All other games runs without any lags at all.

Thanx in advance

I've been plagued with the exact same issue for over a year. I have even posted video's of what happens. Is it like this for you?

I don't think anyone has ever given a concrete answer to why they happen, some say punkbuster, some say Driver/setup issues, the drive you have the game stored on HDD or SSD, even if it's pertinent to AMD or Nvidia. We even had a dedicated thread for the subject on the other forum, where everyone posted up their rigs and even then.. nothing was ever resolved.

I have tried anything and everything I can possibly try on my end and no matter what.. I still get them. it's also the only game I get them on too.

One day I was hoping to logon to see a guy to come along who knew what it was, why it happened and how to fix it, Yep, still waiting for that guy

Looks much like my issue yeah
First i thought it was a heating issue
Nxt i thought my hardware was caching to much and therefore dumping frames
Nothing on my monitoring of hardware was indicating anything, so i got the silly idea, that it was a hardware/driver issue (compability perhaps) and that i should invest a fortune in new pc, but this have brought very little difference - still same issue.
    * a thing to note though - is my HDD is the same as before - might give it a go installing on one of my other drives..

    Have you tried that Uni-Sol?

Yep, Before I got my 250gb SSD (What the game is installed on now) I had a 250gb HDD, and have had the issue on both drives.

I'm upgrading my PC too.. I have been buying bits at a time to save the cost of bulk buying, then being skint for months

Fingers crossed it does away with the issue, if not.. then hey it has to be my internet provider, because that’s the only thing that will be the same

Installing as i type, ready in a few, will do shadowplay to document later -

I really hope i get rid of this crap - if any DEV reads this post - tell me what you need to search for the root cause of this issue...

They will definitely read it.. They read everything :) it helps that the active community is so small.

But honestly, the lack of feedback specifically for this issue over the past from devs..kinda tells me they know as much as we do about the issue :(

I have my fingers crossed for you man, good luck!

Note the difference in scale on the Y axis.

I edited his image a touch. The Y-axis scales are different, so it isn't immediately clear what improved. Compare the size of the peaks for the middle (what we have now) to the bottom (in development) graphs. Each spike would be a freeze.

Just sayin', it's not like the Devs haven't addressed FPS and stutter concerns as general issues in the recent past.

The scaleform HUD has also seen some community attention as a possible culprit.

So none of the Devs experienced or could replicate the stutter/freeze issue in the past 6 + months?

My issues are not based on periodically high GPU reqs- more like Issue with GFX and game engine or something..
Have a video recorded to show what i mean - notice the FPS counter how it drops - it might not be extremely noticable in video, but it bugs the krap out of me....

Thanks for taking a look anyways-.-

Yeah, you've got the version of this that hits around once per second.

A useful command for showing what's happening is "stat unitgraph" to get a slightly better sense for the responsible portion of the game.

I think one person reduced this issue for themselves by disabling the stance indicator display in particular. You could test that theory by disabling the entire HUD with ALT+Z in-game (just temporarily to see if the HUD change fixes it at all for you).

Speculative thought here -- is there any chance this could be related to the engine doing a server/client correction? I wonder what the check rate is on that.
  • Yeah and its always been like that especially when the enemy or you turn the corner... which is random

This is the sad sad state of the waiting game and problem with having 2 seperate versions of the game. This is a beta and there should of been no reason to put the current closed beta over top of the current open beta months ago when the opt-in's started. We have gone what like 9 months without a significant update to the current beta. We have been basically playing this open beta for nothing. This is however still a BETA and that means testing and nothing is final etc...So why are we not playing the current full version beta? Why are we playing this outdated junk when there is over 9 months of fixes on another beta build? Our last huge update was September 25th, 2014. Basically complaining about framerate drops and other optimization stuff is useless because you have no idea how its going to be on the full version unless you played the opt-in's and not very many people did. If you ask me 9 months and counting is way too long to wait for a significant update on a game that is still in BETA

Pie charts + Graphs= Very Bad.

I would get those stutters until i reverted back to the December 23rd Nvidia drivers. I used those drivers as soon as I started to get the split second stutter randomly and I have never seen one while on that driver.

As of this week though i have been using the latest release by Nvidia and I haven't had any problems yet

It's lucky I'm going with Nvidia next time then, but in the meantime got a fix for AMD?

I've used GeForce driver from 18. November lately and it's was fine until a few days ago. I got micro freezes at game start and when I was killed, yesterday game was frozen around 5 sec(!) one time when I was killed. Today I installed latest driver, played three matches and it runs like in butter, no freezes.

I'm used to them now anyway, game wouldn't be the same without them

They used to like to test my patience and happen randomly.. but nowadays I can count on them happening right when I'm about to shoot at someone, or I'm shooting at someone which throws my aim.. both get me killed 99.9% times :(

the thing is to this game only uses one CPU core right? so you gotta be careful about what you have running in the background. Also I know minimizing a lot can cause issues. Also having DSR enabled even if your not using it can cause issues so I disable that I am still on the latest driver from nvidia june 22 i think it was. I was on the december 2014 one for a while. Also the other thing is having your power management mode on prefer maximum performance instead of adaptive. If you have stutters daily/every match the problem does not entirely with the game IMO because you can fix it you just have to know what to change and have the patients to mess around with settings and stuff. There is no way that I should have no issues on a MSI GTX 670 2gb Power edition with i5 3570k overclocked to 4.2ghz when you guys having 4770k or higher and 970's or 980's. A list of stuff you can try.
    • Try not to minimize.
    • try turning vsync on
    • try using adaptive vsync
    • try turning antialiasing off in game and in nvidia control panel
    • make sure nothing is set to a different setting in your game vs nvidia control panel for instance...Make sure Anisotropic filtering is 16x in game and 16x in nvidia control panel.
    • Also for people with overclocked PC's maybe your Overclocked CPU is stable in other games and with other programs but maybe not with AAPG. Try lowering the overclock if you overclock to a much lower overclock or no overclock at all.

Again you need to have patients to go through and mess with this stuff one by one and play the game and see if anything changes...Especially with the CPU overclocking part that could be a time consuming pain.

Here is my nvidia control panel settings.
