I think people just want a little something... which I doubt we'll get for quite some time. The best estimate we heard was MAYBE 2020 because they want to get this game out before the 2020 election. If that's the case, then I wouldn't expect to see anything at all until next year. I do miss when Hollywood would at least give us little snippets of information to tell us that development is beginning or whatever. Of course with game development it's impossible to give updates when there's nothing to give. I mean they don't need to be giving us live look ins on every little thing they do. However, it'd be nice to just hear how development is going and maybe discuss some of the ideas that they're looking to include in the next game.

Here is some info for you. Lead designer worked on Fallout 76. He's also worked on every other version of AA it appears.
Well at least there's some AAA experience even if FO76 was a dud. CoD MW is getting a ton of hype right now, so I'm curious to see how that works out in terms of tge competitive market. Seems that they've slowed it down a bit. Shroud even likens it to Insurgency.

As much as i hate to say it the funding for this project will eventually be pulled. Reality and funding is a true realization, while the DEV team will still be around working more so toward Simulations that actually helps train current soldiers as they do now, this will prove to not serve it's purpose as an "recruitment tool" It truly was a good run but numbers don't lie!!!
You know the best "recruitment tool" in human existence, it's called having an actual War.
Well, it's certainly part of the reason why AA2 did so well. Post-9/11 nationalism was a huge piece of the puzzle. That said, I do think the market is dying for a well done competitive shooter that brings something a bit different than CS and R6. It's really the only way forward for the franchise outside of trying to appeal to an extreme niche market or completely changing the concept of the game. Whether they can pull that off while keeping the game authentic to the Army and prior versions of the game is the huge question. Of course the Army has been so quiet about what they're intending this game to be, that we can only speculate as to what they'll do.
It's why I've said in the past that they really need professional FPS players to consult on the project or at least do a ton of research on what makes competitive FPS games work. A casual FPS will fail on day 1, I have no doubt about that. Also, quite frankly, the Army would be better represented by a competitive game than a casual game unless they want to go the full simulator route, which I think is too niche and one that Arma has covered.
The only other option I can think of that could be interesting is an Army style Team Fortress/Overwatch style game. Even there, you need to have a competitive bend. These days if you're not trying to put a competitive bend on your game then you may as well not even bother. Even BR is forced to try it even though competitive BR is dumb.

The tank game is still in development, and the football game was never a game -- rather, it is a mobile app coaching aid with whiteboard, player view, and aerial view capability.
I'm sure the tank game is gonna tank. Can it compete with world of tanks? What think tank thought up that idea? I mean I tank the devs for their dedication to the game, but is a tank game really desired by any gaming community? Not to go too far off track, what about AA5?
Those are just silly. I don't get it, but I'm probably not supposed to either. I hope the team that develops AA5 and the management overseeing the game are different from whomever thought these were good ideas.
The army doesn't set out to make games. They set out to explore applications that leverage certain technologies to achieve certain goals. When the Naval Post Graduate School and the M.O.V.E.S. Institute first put America's Army on this community's radar, THEY were writing white papers on using available commercial 3D software to solve some specific problems. AA went on to become both public facing as well as Army internal, for a variety of purposes. The Army Game Studio, contrary to the name, really doesn't make games, at least not the way other studios do. We're just lucky we've had a chance to have some fun along the way.
Sitting here as a gamer and criticizing is just silly, yet some of you just can't seem to help yourselves. It's like a soccer 'parent' criticizing combustion chamber geometries, chemistry and thermodynamic efficiencies in zir mini van....

I'd really like to get in on the dev part of this! I could possibly take an internship if possible? I'm going to school getting my Batchelor's in Game Design at Full Sail University, and I graduate December 2020! Could I PLEASE get a reply to my comment about possible internship or getting in on development?
