Location of Server Software

Hello;

I am looking to run a local LAN / Network copy of the server for AA. Where can the server software be downloaded. And is there still a linux server or just windows now?

Thanks,
T

When you click "PLAY" in the Steam Library, the game gives you the option to "Host a Dedicated Server" or something like that.

This has been a test of the emergency flame-fest system. Please do not adjust your set.

Thanks for the info. But I was looking for a stand alone server. I guess those may not exist anymore.

There is no indepently downloadable standalone server files for AAPG.
Everything is still downloaded via Steam.
So the only way to spin up a local AAPG server is to install Steam and download the AAPG Dedicated Server Files.
Windows Only, no Linux yet but there is a Linux Official TUX server that shows up on the list sometimes for beta testers...

    1) Load up Steam.
    2) Hover mouse over "Library".
    3) On the pop up list that appears click "Tools".
    4) Look on the list for "America's Army: Proving Grounds Dedicated Server".
    5) Right click and hit "Install Game".

Thanks for the information. Back in the day (long time ago) there use to be a Linux server. It was fun because I can easily put that on servers that I manage. Anyway, thanks for the info. I guess I will have to get me a windows box.

    Cheers,

I have been pushing for Linux Dedicated Servers for years. Sadly no one can confirm a release date and the last update about Linux Dedicated Servers was posted by an ex-Developer nearly a year ago.

The dedicated server can be installed via steamcmd using 203303 as the appid. This allows you to install and run servers without steam being a requirement. I think this may be the only way to download the dedicated server for AAPG.

Note: you cannot use this to play the game. You can have them installed side by side and have a server running locally and connect a normal client to it.

Both CMH1 and FRA1 are running on a Linux server, I've also been told that Linux server files to be available for the next patch. So keep your head up, we are almost there :awesome:

This may be for the linux server... when it is finished and ready. However, to install the windows server you are required to use 203300 as per https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Dedicated_Servers_List. Fairly sure this hasn't changed. However, when I run this I am missing the binaries.

Trying 203290 now but I think this is downloading the complete game. Have flagged this and am waiting for a response from the devs.

Not sure which mod(and I don't really care) changed my post but if you are going to change someones post you should probably mark that you have as such. I was fairly confused when I saw that number had been changed, as RTH's post was the first time I have seen it mentioned.
