Does this game accomplish its stated mission?
Some quotes from the video:
It paints the army as it is in a horrible light. It's not what it's like being in the army. Holy Sh&t so many kids play COD. Lets make our game a lot like COD and then kids will want to join the army. You don't feel like you are a member of a team. The weapons sound like a bunch of paintball guns. Replicate popular gaming aspects in the market right now. It's a twitch arena based shooter, where teamwork takes a really big back seat to run and gun. I just don't think that promotes army values. What were these developers thinking?

This is/was a good review that is true today. Spot on. I agree. They missed it. At time 2:33 he goes on a rant of what you would have expected to happen. You don't feel it in AAPG. You feel Army in any prior version.

I wonder what He is going to think of the game whenever It gets released. I hope He gives it another try. It's disappointing to hear that an actual soldier does not like the game that's supposed to be about him (?). He makes some good points but He also overstates things a bit. A lot have changed since 2013...

I'm pretty sure a Dev said somewhere that AAPG isn't meant to be a recruitment tool. Just throwing that out there.

James Carter interview with [Dev]Caterpillar
Around 6:25, JC asks about the goal of the game. The reply:
"It's not really meant as a recruiting tool. It is funded by the Army's outreach program, so really what it is is a way for the Army to expose the Army name and the Army brand to a wider audience. That's really as simple as I can put it."

Take it all with a big grain of salt. The interview's from January 2014 and a lot has changed since then. I think he also said in that interview that there wouldn't be an M16 in the game and that a 3-round burst would get added to the M4.

I remember that quite well. They are trying to grab the attention of a wider audience that doesn't care for something like this that already exists. If you don't know the game as army then what do you know it as? A replication arena shooter. There are some bad decisions being made from the top all the way to the bottom.
