VIP Mode Information

Available on:
FLO: Intercept, Slums, Redline, Overload, Inner Hospital, Homestead
BDX: SpringStreet, Inner Hospital
  • Map makers have full access to the VIP mode and settings
  • VIP spawns with a weapon that has limited ammo. Weapon can change based on map
  • VIP runs slightly slower than a soldier
  • VIP has slightly more health than a soldier
  • VIP is chosen semi randomly based on user settings. You can choose “Rarely, Normal, and Often” (This option is in the MISC settings menu)
  • If the VIP is secured or downed twice, the round is over
  • Some VIP maps have new weapon and item pick-ups scattered throughout the levels
  • The VIP has unique call-outs and footstep sounds
  • The VIP cannot use supported positions
  • The VIP has a unique nameplate, which is customizable
The game wasn't made exactly to my specifications, so I feel it's broken.

Fantastic, I can not wait to try it. The characteristics are for the most part similar to those of the second version. Great job guys

Like the details, however does vip die with one hs? Should do right?

Almost always, yes. There are some edge cases where it could not be the case. Such as an EXTREME distance M9 headshot, or some penetration shots.

First project, UMM version of VIP full hospital. How is this not a default map?
Step 1: Close off "Dark Room"
Step 2: Close off "Up and Over"
Step 3: Ambush starts in the alley, Escort starts other side.
    Step 4: Profit.

The problem is with your Step 4. We setup VIP on Full Hospital. In fact, it was the first map we tried. It simply isn't fun. The biggest problem was the gameplay around food courts, but there were a number of other issues that didn't translate well from the old full hospital to the one in PG. We knew people would expect us to release VIP on full hospital, but we would rather defy those expectations than to release a VIP map of inferior quality. The VIP maps we are releasing are plenty fun, way more so than what we were experiencing on full hospital.

Ok so VIP is replacing the flag?!,but why so many maps, why not only two ,to create some buzz around those maps, don't like the "more health than a soldier" but lets give it a try.

Nobody said the flag gamemode is replaced. I'm pretty sure that the flag version of the map will be available as well.
I know it sounds kind of weird that the VIP has more health, but I think fun gameplay is more important than a 100% consistent / realistic storyline.
Theory and reality are not that different. In theory.

the extra health isnt all bad, you can get away with some not so normal jumps.

I'm assuming the vip starts with the escort team in Inner, but does he spawn with the escort team in all maps or are some like the old ones where he spawns in another location? That was probably the best part about the vip mode.

I respect not releasing the full hospital if it didn't work, but its still a bummer nonetheless.

He only spawns with the team on Intercept. On Inner, for example, he spawns in surgery.

Keep in mind this is AAPG and we are going the easy casual way on everything.

So ... would that be easier for the hunting team who has to work harder to eliminate the VIP then? Anything asymmetric can't make things universally "easier".

I'm sure the VIP health can be customized on each map. In any sense, most games that have had a VIP mode typically make the VIP have a lot of health. I think both ways have their merit. You'd have to play them out to figure out what's the best choice. At this point, the Devs feel that the higher health is better for gameplay.

Fair enough, either way I'm sure a VIP hospital will be released shortly after the patch. It really wouldn't take someone all too long to put together. Although, we may also get the old looking VIP hospital as well.

Everyone is able to play on the hunting team already but noobs wouldn't be able to play VIP so they are given the extra health to not completely screw it up, that's the casual easier part of it. I'm sure the old players (whether AA2 or AA3) would prefer the low health VIP but the new players of AAPG probably prefer this version, wouldn't have been surprised if VIP had the same movement speed either. I'm not saying it's a bad decision or anything, I probably would have done the same for this kind of community AAPG has.

I think its more about the frustration, for everyone, of the vip dying over and over than about noobs being able to play the vip. I prefer the low heath high tension situation but I can understand this way as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if the vip was able to tank a body shot of the m24 to avoid hiding and sniping from being too reliable. We already know how much people hate snipers, lol.
