Releasing a Map?

Cant find a How to release a map.. I dont know what to do with my map.. Build All.. then what?

.. side question after the build I get error "Object has overlapping UVs".... its referring to the spawn barriers overlapping buildings. Is that an issue?

    You are using the AA Editor and not UDK I hope? That "packaging" thing from the other thread isn't in the AAPG editor.

    Also, that particular error about overlapping UVs is pretty normal. You can ignore it.

    Have you set up your View > World Info as per one of Wolvy's tutorials?

    There are a bunch of things you need to have in place to have a successful publish, including you will need to have entered the editor from Steam so that Steam knows where to put your map (...your Workshop!)

    Have you set up objectives and win conditions for the teams?

    Im using AA advanced editor through steam.. Ive setup objectives, but win conditions for the team?

    Have you used the Objective Editor to tell the game what you want from the objectives?

    "Go here, pick up this, take it over here, set it....WIN."

    Go to tools in editor on your map scroll to bottom and publish . If it fails switch of your firewall and re publish . Once done any changes u make to map . Re publish it and it will overwrite it . Say yes to overwrite .

    lol.. it worked.. but I ran threw it found some things need updating right away so Im doing that right now... then gonna try to update it.. so exciting

    also in Steam, how do you put multiple nice pics?

    when you click publish, it asks to overwrite, I take it thats the update.. the one thing I dont like is when you hit OK to publish.. there is no progress bar .. just says publishing: dont know when its done.

    There is no real secret to the publish process, it is all down to your internet upload speed. If you try to upload a 50MB map with a 30Mb/s, it probably gonna take a few seconds to complete. If you upload a 200MB map with a dial up connection, you will be there all day.
    You know when it finishes, because it should bring up a message saying publish complete.

    And as for adding nice pics to Steam Workshop, just open your map in the editor or in game (using single player) and run around to different positions, take screenshots with Steam, and then go into your Steam listing for the map and there is a link to add media.

    Yes thanks Watcher, I did find where to update the images when going to subscribe to map..

    I also didnt notice the cmd. it opens up while it publishes .. I do now.. however Im getting "Publishing Item Failed" :(

    I might have screwed things up.. when I had it published the first time I tried updating it, it said successful but when i resubscribed the changes that I made werent updated.. so I deleted my published map in my workshop and wanter to re publish with updates.. thats where im at now getting this error

    or go to document/mygames/aapg/aagame/unpublished/cookedpc/maps/misioneditor/saves/ find your map folder and delete the .metadata files , then republish , thats what works for me every time or i get a fail to

    Neither of those suggestions worked.. I royally screwed something up now..

    I tried to rebuild map then save as.. used different name.. then publish.. tells me right away cant publish

    would a rename screw things up?

    OK I figured it out.. or at least I managed to rename the map to its original name and then it worked.. I think that did it

    A rename could potentially screw a few things up. Open the map up and go to View -> World Properties. Under MyMapInfo find 'Full Package Name' and 'ShortPackageName'. Make sure they are using your new name and not your old name. You may also have to rename 'Stream Preview Texture' (under Mission Info) and 'Map Texture' (under Minimap), but those should update when you publish.

    I would still go delete your metadata file again before attempting to publish.

    Cool.. Thanks Rawrster I just checked that out and they do indeed match now.. so yes Im sure it was the rename that screwed this up..

    anyway.. its up, but I found more things that need updating.. so without screwing things up I can open the map make the changes and just publish exactly the same ? it will ask to overwrite the existing file, I say sure.. and thats it yes?
