Please submit any map you like. If the map is intended for a round timer longer than the standard four minutes please note that with the submission. If the map genuinely plays well it will be considered regardless of the round length.
I don't think that any gameplay type really is a limitation of "this is comp." If the game is well made for competitive play, then whether it's fast or slow, long rounds or short rounds, shouldn't matter. Modern games tend to be more fast paced with shorter rounds. That's just how it is. AA2 did perfectly fine in the competitive aspects of the game with 7 minute rounds and overall slower gameplay. The main thing is that the pub and comp aspects of the game should always jive together.
People always talk about what CS does right in the competitive sphere, but the game is great for pubbing as well. The metrics of the game work well in public and competitive play. The comp game really doesn't need to modify anything from the base game to work well.
Back in the AA2 days, it was similar... Round times, weapon selections, etc. nothing really changed. Sure, there were certain "stylized" ladders that would say no hud or something, but those weren't the main leagues. What you found in the pub game was the same that you found in comp games.
Comp games in their essence should be a more organized game where the scoring actually matters. As you went up the chain you'd get teams with better strategies and overall players, but nothing other than that was radically different. League games obviously tend to have a more set group of rules that make the gameplay more fair and things of that nature, but the game is still essentially the same. We can see that same example in pickup sports vs. league. League games are more organized, there is more strategy, teams tend to have a more similar skill set to each other and there's a standardized set of rules. With pickup, the rules are more loose, teams can be a mixture of all sorts of skill sets, and strategy is very basic at best. Other than those things, the games are still essentially the same.
If there's a major clash between the public and competitive side of the game then there's something off somewhere. Just my opinion.
You joined the world's greatest army to become a graphic artist? Outstanding!
Who is "We" it seems to me that you and Colts are the only people with this opinion. So who exactly is We???
Why do I have to prove that the map needs more than 4 minutes , the goal is to be fun (As stated by the Devs for this contest) What has changed is it only fun when Doba or colts says so ???
My point exactly , why do I have to prove anything , When the rules were stated there was no limit , now there is how about you prove to me why that was changed , (and yes it was changed after the rules were set)
Heres the thing guys , Why do I need to prove that the map needs more than 4 minutes, that's what you want not us , why do we have to prove anything the map does not need more time its supposed to be fun that's all.'
You continue to operate as tho we all have to conform to what you think is proper.
And don't tell me again that its what the Devs want for their servers , their servers are irrelevant to this discussion , the 4 minute time limit is irrelevant to this discussion as well , we are talking about Usermade maps and they will be defined by the community despite your efforts .
Watch and you will see. If you watch closely you will notice that the Official servers will predominantly stay on inner hospital, lets see how long that last.
The game needs longevity and I seriously doubt we will get that with the effort being put forth right now.
We get it, you like a certain play style. Guess what, you have it.
No one is getting in the way of you playing any map you want, at any time you want.
If you don't like our contest, you aren't forced to enter. The rules were never changed, just clarified.
As I've stated before, we (incorrectly) assumed that people would understand that if it's going to be an Official map, it would follow the Official map times.
You've stated your opinion ad nauseam and we get it. You want long timer maps. You have them.
We want maps that fit with what the vast majority of our community already plays for our Official servers.
In the end, we'll get the maps we think are best, and you'll be able to keep running any map and timer that makes you happy on your server.
EVERYONE WINS!

As the OP I can say that my initial question has been answered. I couldn't find sunny open spaces in which to kill and be killed. UMMs received the necessary system supports and now I can find them. Problem solved as far as I'm concerned. You can shut the thread down if that solves anything because I'm happy with the way things now are.
