Bring back player ping info on the scoreboard.

I was on a 'private server' the other day. It was FLO_InnerHospital, and I was on defense sneaking thru West. When I turned the corner I got shot by.... nobody. Then I spectated a teammate shooting the "invisible" enemy player but was able to see the enemy warp over 10 feet to the left, towards west choke, and kill my teammate also. About 3 other teammates spectated the same warping. After a few rounds, it was obvious this enemy had a severe ping problem and had all of us "rubberbanding" during the game. It's aggravating because it makes the game unplayable especially for people like me with extremely low pings >25. We should be able to see player pings as default on the scoreboards on private servers and not have to depend on admins being online. These private servers have ping limits posted in global chat, but because pings don't show on the scoreboard I see more high ping players abusing private rules now.

I am not an anti-high ping person. If your ping is 988 then you are welcomed to play on any 'official server'.

On top of that, I heard Windows 8 users can use a "loophole" for spiking. I hope that is being looked into.

    My opinion is it makes the game look even worse when your shooting someone and not hitting them or the great invisible person thing (which is a lot this version). If you look at pings and see a ping that's high you say ok high ping but no ping it just seems like the game is broken........ Removing the ping from the scoreboard doesn't fix the game devs..

    I don't quite understand the hostility against high ping players. I understand it may be harder to hit them but I think as a corollary it must be also harder for them to hit you! In a given length of time you may have gotten 3 updates on their position to their one update. Doesn't that give you the advantage? I personally never found it a problem playing against high ping players.

    For me its not so much about hitting them, its that a few of them ruin my gameplay because my ping just went up...

    again seeing pings on officials is pointless though because you cant kick him anyways.

    Private servers need to do a better job of monitoring it..

    my BIGGER issue right now is Why the [mod edit] are private servers (most) using SSHD !!

    I'd really like to see at least an option for server admins to turn off ping hiding for everyone. I don't have time to play a lot nowadays, but I noticed, that my ping was 60 on some servers, now it is 90-100.

    I think its funny how many complains we have had on our servers about pings many times
    now I have been asked to kick a players because he has a high ping, its a shame they didn't realise
    it was their score and not their ping :)

    Well with CSHD you hit what YOU see.. with SSHD you hit what the SERVER sees.. which do you want to play on? This has been discussed many times before, the game is made for CSHD

    Btw. I always wondered why ppl think that another clients ping to the server would increase their ping as well?

    I am not an network expert but it makes no sense to me, how the route a client takes to the server would cause other clients route to extend..

    Maybe some network expert could explain this?

    Ok I will switch our servers to CSHD and see how it goes I did have it on this but a few players complained.

    Trick is to make that change incognito and make NOBODY aware that you did it, then see if people say anything over time. Most of the time it's a blame mechanism for an individual having a bad game or plain sucky play.

    Hitting what YOU see which is ping related. In dealing with ping in this particular game, I'd rather let the server handle it as netcode for this game has always been mediocre at best. CSHD (for AAPG, but most games in general) will never win the argument for me due to network inconsistencies which are more prevalent in the consumer market than behind business doors. even though it's been heavily nailed into the game.

    I've been foolish on things before, but I think this community is spoon fed heavily pursued opinions that appease the developers/higher ups as apposed what is actually beneficial for the game and it's community. Some of the people at Redstone need to flush their minds of some of the garbage they are doing to this game. This is a growing problem that will only continue to hurt this series.

    My lowest ever ping is 170. I usually play 240-280 on French servers. On others, 300-330. Sometimes, for some reason, it is even more than that(but that is rare).
    You are absolutely right. Picture this : I shoot an enemy, and he has to be there for 300 ms more to get shot. In 1 v 1, he has a 300ms reaction time advantage. Lots of times when I shoot nme first, yet I die first (as I presume I died in that 300ms in between).
    Fellow players, I'm no expert, so correct me if I'm wrong.

    The problem with high ping is that you see me before I see you. On my side it is perceived as I get shot by a enemy player who is behind a wall. I have no way to counter that enemy. The enemy shoots me easy because I am out in the open on his perspective. Then the enemy warping out of your sights is just a total joke.

    In all fairness, I only notice the most ridiculous shots when one side has a higher tally of pings than the other side. I guess if there was a way to balance out both teams then I could live with that.

    Someone, Please post the admin command to retrieve player pings. A lot of admins don't know about it. Also, does the command show a snapshot of pings or is it refreshed while looking at it in the console?

    Does/why/how turning this TickRate thingy up or down affect the server/game performance, cuz if it's like a 'nothing' but value change issue.. Then I would assume they would set it to whatever works the best, no? I'm airing on the side of.. lets let the professionals handle it, they built it, they KNOW it. Were always actin "Gaming Chair Devz".. but we should be conscious of the fact.. they built the whole shabang were playing on :lol:

    We get to play what they get to build, its a good deal :)

    Man, We just endured a 10 page mammoth amount of DPI.. I probably major in it by now, without even going to school! Do we really want this SSHDvCSHD can'o'worms? (Again :lol:)

    Maybe it's me, but I feel that CSHD is worst, keep dying when I'm already behind cover on it, as for the tickrate we also tried to change it, but I think that the game doesn't support more than 30, but again, I could (hope) that I'm wrong on this.

    ping can go from a normal 60 to 100 when a hand full of high pingers enter.. just because theres no technical explanation doesnt mean it doesnt happen.. it does.. in this game it does
