    Shouldn't need a top end sound card to hear the basics as you shouldn't need the newest video card to have stable, playable FPS.

    Sound has potential but inconsistencies.. yesterday on Slums I was Y obj looking out the window, someone ran on me up the stairs beside me.. I didn't hear a thing, neither did Hyperlite, who was spectating me... other times I hear pretty good.. again inconsistencies, maybe between different materials such as grass vs wood.

    Agree. I very rarely get hit by nades or even flashes now. I can hear 2x the distance that I could in then open beta.

    Hear a bit far? How about lets say you hear a bit inconsistently. There's many situations where you hear too far BUT theres a ton of situations where you don't hear people right next to you.

    I don't know... I came from holiday and tried "new" version... It's like bad trip. New sound system.. in 1 hour of playing I have headache from sharp sounds... to hear direction is impossible.. I don't even know of someone shooting on me or on the guy 10 meters from me... or my guy is shooting someone else. The movement of other soldiers is so strange..it like lagging not fluent anymore... sometimes guy just disappear 2 meters before entering maybe slide which i don't see.. not sure. In most cases i have to look up if i killed the guy.. I'm not sure because body goes down so fast like fast lag and hes gone.. I have feeling I'm playing faster AA3... I would rather keep old version for ever if new one will be any close to "this" I don't see a lot of people playing AA in my steam friends list anymore... no wonder why.

    Depends on what your definition of right.. I heard a nade pin pull at upper bank wall, from inside bistro... that's a heck of a distance.

    You need to be able to hear pins from the same distance you can hear footsteps.

    I wonder if there were a set of rules to govern all sounds? maybe that would make things better? OHH WAIT

    It is a little inconsistent, but there is better z-axis now and the sound of the material that your walking on is accurate from what I've heard. I think if soundy has a couple more months, the sound will be pretty darn good.

    Great graphics and sounds. I also like that you cannot strafe with your aim up anymore. I hope this new version give new impetus to this great game.

    I think some of it is in your head. Movement and such haven't changed. Could it be system performance? If you have a good system, then I don't know.

    This is obviously not intended and just goes to prove the inconsistency in the sound engine because if you hear a nade that far on spring street why don't you hear nades that far everywhere else and on every map no matter what location you are in?

    No offense to Soundy: there is no sound engine inconsistency, but rather sound that hasn't been fully tweaked yet. Apparently EVERYTHING has to be done per item/per map/per location. Cray cray!!

    and we are not aware of this and that would make it inconsistent atm until it is fixed.

    I think a lot of people are giving pretty good feedback. Some of it is just the "the sound sucks, I hate it" variety, but lots of others are not. However, they can only describe it so much. It's not like there are people getting invites to AA HQ to listen be consultants for the sound.

    Well my thoughts on the Permanent Opt-in are JUST DO IT ALREADY !!! I'm not gonna try it, I didnt try the old Opt-in, and I aint played the beta in over 3 months now. I just dont understand, how hard can it be ??? I think if they dont get this game out soon it will be outdated before they get started, if its not already. And then we get 6 more years of beta's and opt-in's. I'm 55 years old and not sure I can wait another 6 more years for the next version. Plz help with a old mans dying dream, to play this game while still able to move my fingers.

    Ekcomms sound thread is perfect did you read? If everything in that post is done sound would be 10x better than what is now.

    But...the final game isn't ready. The Opt-In is 'out there' so more stuff can get tested by more people before final adjustments are made. If it was JUST DO IT-ed to final everyone would complain....!
