Those are official AA sites |
no offense but a cop out answer isn't what i was looking for.
allow me to simplify my previous question. why is it so damned impossible to post things on facebook, youtube, etc... but not on the games actual website (i.e. http://www.americasarmy.com/ )
even simpler version of the above, why can't you update all the "official" AA sites so everyone can get the information?
it's kind of insulting to know that because some people use the games actual website (i.e. http://www.americasarmy.com/ ) they are reduced to getting second hand information
and... that'll be my last off-topic post in the thread |
I'm not commenting on the last question about the suggestion of simultaneously posting information, but I am answering the first question. Could you elaborate more on that about why it is impossible to post things on Facebook? AFAIK, you just post status (I have two pages I'm an Admin on), just like a regular profile page, and then you can upload videos and pictures. Youtube is similar that way as well (minus the pictures part). People can post on the page's wall, or post comments to posts. There are also applications that can be added to pages (I believe you may be able to create some of your own but I haven't read much about it yet). Its not so difficult as long as you have an account there. You can just simply choose a text field box and type away, posting links or upload pictures and video, and the site does all the work. Really easy to do when you know what you're doing, but everything is pretty much self-explanatory.
In general, hermann answered the question. The fact that the Facebook is something I call an "asset", and in that case it is still very much an official source of information. There's no second hand information being distributed between the Facebook page, and this website either on the site or its forums. Now maybe the problem is that you'd be confused, and in that scenario, your suggestion of simultaneous distribution would be a good idea to eliminate confusion.
The thing about Facebook, is that there are more people on it and it is a social networking tool. Most people who have never played AA before may hear about AA through Facebook. they would have no idea that there is a forum here with people that do the same thing. There's a larger audience base there, and most would end up downloading AA3 assuming it's the latest and greatest, not realizing that AA2 is alive and they're separate games, not directly an upgrade over the other.
Regardless of the source of information though, more of AA3 is being advertised than AA2, and as a result, more people on AA3 are not veterans [of AA2]. I'm assuming that they're distributing and communicating information this way using Facebook more because there is more exposure. perhaps it doesn't cover all the bases, and in which case, your suggestion would be the solution in reaching the maximum audience possible that receive the same information. That's just my take on it.

Better late then never, I hope this patch actually fixes something this time, but more likely it will create many more major bugs |
Every patch had addressed numerous of issues. It's a fact that new issues may be introduced but many more are normally fixed.
Testing, developing, documenting all takes a lot of time. |
Major Winters is absolutely correct. I have been a Certified Software Quality Engineer for over 15 years and the amount of fixes that need to be developed, tested and documented in releases such as this are very, very numerous in scope. The amount and type of issues that are going to be addressed in any particular must fit into a 'bit bucket' that covers risk assessments, time to market, length of development of all the items, as well as the test and acceptance of said items.
The introduction of any additional bugs/issues in the just released software is a combination of low risk to leave it in and the amount of time that the SQEs are allowed to test the release for proper integration and operations.

Well, hopefully this is the start of an extended dialog. I want to thank you guys for being patient while waiting for the next release of the game. I hope that the next patch will begin to get you guys fired up about the game again. While I don't want to pin the team to a specific release date, I will say the game's beta version is in release candidate status. There have been a lot of fixes added to the latest release, and I hope to add some info now and then about some of the features on the horizon, including some sneak peeks at future maps. While I'm not really a fan of tacos, I've been known to knock down a few dozen buffalo wings.
Talk to you soon!!

Thanks Sledge, good to hear from a Dev.
Well, hopefully this is a good sign that we are going to be kept more up to date on the progress with this game ;) With the last dry spell since news of any fixes, I've seen many servers shut down and players disappearing in droves. This game really needs to start getting the hype pumped up and start pushing forward instead of dying off.

Communication between the DEV's and the aa3 community is really all we needed for months now. We've can deal with the bugs, glitches, and annoying quirks for some time. However, if you guys don't ever tell us what your working on and the progress your making we tend to get a little uneasy. I've been quite impressed with the amount of communication that has occurred over these past two weeks. Thank you and keep it up!

Ok Nice to see there is an actual dev mod the forum again its been awhile since we seen one, all though you might not like taco's. Another thing is the so called mod's can only help you out for game related stuff, they dont have a clue or info about the game and if they do there under NDA rule's which they cannot discuss with you anytime. so there fore they may or may not know more then you!
Secondly i would like to stat i made this comment when facebook and utube was interduce to aa and this site dosent get it's bit of onformation from any officail staff besides mod's if they post it, or unless someone else posted before them, i to agree this site or forum is like 3rd hand to Face Book and youtube, but im not worried about it at all, why do you ask, becuase i will find out one way or another i dont use face book nor do i use youtube for my source of info, i use this website and forum's for bit's and peice's of information, or WHen it's done the famous ~DEV~ quotes

Well, I tend to lean more toward the AA forums anyway, so I'll hang out here, if you don't mind. Some of the guys on Facebook are rather scary sometimes.
