[MAJOR UPDATE & NEWS]
| SgtSVJones wrote: |
Tiago,
Many of the changes that I (and others) originally recommended are now obsolete due to the changes in the 3.0.4 patch and the implementation of Punkbuster on a large scale. PB will now kick for some of the tweaks that were earlier suggested.As an obvious example the edata file and temp file problem is now fixed. Might I suggest that you update your post here . To be something similar to the following: MAJORLY UPDATED FOR 3.0.4 PATCH
Remember, backup ALL files before editing them in case you need to replace them and work from scratch again (or wish to reverse engineer some more fixes).
Before doing any of the tweaks I strongly recommend that you do a full uninstall by deleting the America's Army 3 folder entirely (re-downloading if necessary) and reinstalling instead of simply applying the 3.0.4 patch and trying to play.
You seem to (at least I have) get much better performance from the game if you do.
Step 1) After the uninstall/reinstall find your USArmy folder on your hard drive. Once inside the USArmy folder, go to
| Code: |
America's Army3/Engine/Config |
Full path should be
| Code: |
C:\Program Files\USArmy\America's Army3\Engine\Config (for versions using the deploy client) |
or
| Code: |
C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Engine\Config (for versions using Steam) |
2) Open BaseEngine.ini with notepad, making sure to CHECK "always open with notepad" if your computer doesn't already know to open .ini's in notepad.
3) Ctrl+F inside BaseEngine.ini, and type/copy
You should find it again, somewhere near the upper half of the ini. Change this from
| Code: |
bSmoothFrameRate=TRUE |
to
| Code: |
bSmoothFrameRate=FALSE |
4.) Ctrl+F again and this time type/copy
Change it to
This is a little leftover item that some Dev forgot to kill and causes you to spin like a top if you have any joystick (or other non-mouse input device) attached when you start AA3. Also go to
| Code: |
USArmy\America's Army 3\AA3Game\Config\DefaultEngine.ini |
and do this step again.
5.) Go to:
| Code: |
USArmy\America's Army 3\Engine\Config\BaseGame.ini |
6) Ctrl+F inside and look for
7) Change
| Code: |
bDynamicNetSpeed=true |
to
| Code: |
bDynamicNetSpeed=false |
8)When you first start-up the game press the tilde (~) or F12 key to open the console and type
This should eliminate the black bars that you see either on top or the side. Also go into the menu and hit "Settings" and then "Video", hit "Advanced" and then select "Disable" for Weapon Blur.
9) After launching the game for the first time, making the changes in step 8 and successfully exiting properly, go to C:\program files\USArmy\America's Army 3\AA3Game\Config and fine AA3Game.ini. Ctrl+F and type/copy
you should find it near the top with something like
| Code: |
DebugEXEName=AA3Game.exe |
make sure to delete ONLY the part AFTER the "=" sign. This has been known to be a MAJOR contributor to the massive lag, since this has not be optimized at ALL and causes WAYY too much lag when you move.
Also be sure to go to www.evenbalance.com and download the latest version of PBSetup.exe and update your PB by selecting America's Army v3 in the PBSetup dropdown box.
Noticable improvements:
-Mount objects nearly on command (instead of 4 times to get onto things)
-Less bullet lag, almost every bullet registers
-Weapons bug out slightly less
Other:
-If a server itself is still having issues, you'll still see hickuping and warping from other players, and sometimes yourself. However, you should see a LOT less of them on your end.......
The other thing y'all can/should do (if you have a laptop with NVIDIA cards & drivers ONLY) is go to:
http://laptopvideo2go.com/drivers
and/or http://laptopvideo2go.com/forum/
and try out different versions of drivers. Some driver versions are better for your specific combo of laptop model and video card then others.
Ensure that (again NVIDIA only) you have the latest version of NVIDIA's PhysX technology accessible at: http://www.nvidia.com/object/p...re.html
You need to be running driver version 177.xx or later for PhysX to work and it does a great job of keeping the game running better.
If you've got a desktop you should just be able to download the latest version from NVIDIA's site: http://www.nvidia.com/Download...g=en-us
If that doesn't work for you (or you have an ATI card) try: http://forums.guru3d.com/index.php and pick the forum for your card brand (ATI or NVIDIA) |

tks man.....excellent post fixed all my problems so far
People shouldn't post their problems in this thread if it didn't work for you.
I think a simple "Didn't work for me" would suffice because I can see this thread getting bogged down & I'm sure your symptom is already know & has been posted all over the boards

While I appreciate the acknowledgment for helping the community, it wasn't I that originally did these tweaks...it was a chap with the handle of Faded...so if you could please update the "-Honorable Mentions:[" to reflect that, I sure would appreciate it...thanks!

Are computer designers stupid? Why don't they overclock their builts to max, like that the computer would be at insane performance, and after a day, would melt

When I try and save the file after making the tweaks it says 'Cannot create the C:Program files... .ini file. Make sure the path and file name is correct.'
But it is correct? Any ideas?
