Looks like chaff or flares.
There would be a huge long explosion if it was cluster bomb.

Exhibit A) http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=...EnuLPzk
Exhibit B) http://www.defenselink.mil/dod...69a.jpg
Exhibit C) http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=...ROvc1Zs Shows actual use.
Exhibit D) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C...easure)

Also, its only illegal if they catch you. Very Happy

Well not illegal, a couple months or years ago lots and lots of countries signed a contract that they would NEVER use cluster bombs.

America, China and Israel (almost the only countries which use cluster bombs) didn't signed.

White Phosphorous maybe?

EDIT: Very possible. Times Online reported Jan 8:
Quote:

Photographic evidence has emerged that proves that Israel has been using controversial white phosphorus shells during its offensive in Gaza, despite official denials by the Israel Defence Forces.

There is also evidence that the rounds have injured Palestinian civilians, causing severe burns. The use of white phosphorus against civilians is prohibited under international law.

I think it looks like white smoke from what I saw on Wiki.

I just saw the news it showed an explosion about 200 feet up with the same projectiles. Maybe just how an airbust shell looks like?

White phosphorus shelling.
A cluster bomb is 40 possible sub-munitions on parachutes, looks entirely different to this when deployed.
Thats my guess anyway.

Whether it's being done for obfuscation purposes or to burn targets/injure combatants is another matter.
Pretty though.

Yeah MOST countries who are under the protection of the US, Russia, and China signed into law to ban cluster bombs, but that doesnt mean if these countries ever get attacked they would have huge protests at the UN complaining that there allies who are protecting them use cluster bombs on the invaders of there countries

Cluster bombs have a unique visual signature. Typically, bombs do not have white trail behind them, as they are free falling munitions. This picture is typical of a weapon with propulsion, in which case I would guess rockets, unguided in nature.

A spook friend of mine would say, "Hard telling, not knowing." My guess is just that, a guess.

Thats a White Phosphorous shell set on air burst. The burst you can't see, its further in the air to the left. Very dangerous weapon. We used it countless times in Afghanistan though.
