After I PM'ed [Dev]Pye, I got this response:

James;
I've only recently discovered exactly what's going on with Mac development for this game insofar as what I've learned is that the Army long ago dropped official support for Mac. I imagine most Mac players didn't know that, I didn't know it until recently and I work on the project.
It's a factoid that's easily slipped past my radar because during my time with the team we've never actually been involved with the Mac or Linux conversions of the game client. That is always something that has been done by Ryan and the Beta testers that work with him. I had always assumed it was an issue of funding or available time on Ryan's part. It likely is a problem with his scheduling, but it is an issue that is beyond our control because we haven't funded him to make these conversions for quite awhile. I'm not sure how long that's been, but I've been with the team for well over a year now and this situation is one that predates my joining the team.
Ultimately that means that the versions the Mac community have been getting for quite some time are the result of the work of Ryan Gordon. The question; when will the next version come out, can really only be answered by him. As we don't fund him to do this work I imagine that it is not as high a priority for him as other work may be. Again, only Ryan can explain what the situation is.
I know it's not the answer you're looking for, but it's the only answer I can give you.

Did any of you know that? Maybe we can get more than one person working on a release of AA in the MAC devision..

No offence to [Dev]Pye (or even anyone in the game-team), but its looks bad for the army when the people in charge dont even know whats going on a year after its happened. Unfrotunatly this isnt the only story of something similar happening in the army.
Personally I dont find this suprising - what I do find suprising is how no one knew about this, ever. Seems like big news. Now we really have to appreciate what Icculus does. If I'm interpriting this correctly, he does the AA port free of charge!!

As Long as there are servers to play at, I'm alright with that.

wouldnt experianced mac coders from the mac community be able to do it free of charge?
edit, i wonder if the mods even know about that. "if aa for mac is dead, i'll be the first to leave" they said.

Not too sure of what to think about all this ...
Feel strange to discover after one year that AA was no more supported by the army ...!!!
Why icculus never talked about that ? Why the army never communicate about too ? Why Mac only ?
I think now we should and must have some explainantion from DEV ...

AA for Mac, can't, and never will die. Think about it for a second and be rational.

is there a way that we, as a community could set up a fund, to compensate icculus in some way for his efforts? perhaps this would be fair to him and show our appreiation for his work and the ports could continue?

Now would be the time for Icculus to give us some real info on if he is actually thinking about doing the port.
I no longer believe it is "Coming Soon", infact I'm not even gonna get my hopes up that it will ever release to us.
Oh well, new games will peak my interests. I'm not gonna hang around here on a hope that we wil ever get an update.
Thanks for 2.5, but now is the time to move on to where the grass is green.

Now is the time for all the ones that said they would pay for AA to donate to Icculus at http://icculus.org/sysinfo/don...ns.html
Didn't think so
